Why is anyone saying, why has anyone ever said, etc., that J. K. Rowling is an "anti-bigot"??!
If Rowling really did work into her contract, with the studio (Warner Bros.?), that the only actors to ever appear in the entire Harry Potter movie franchise HAD TO BE British actors, then, given her "anti-bigotry", she's fu<k!n' hypocrite!!
She IS a bigot, regardless of any such anti-homophobia that she possesses bc, she thinks on some level that British ppl are 'better' than other ppl, those of other nationalities, & therefore only British ppl, specifically ...ONLY those born in Britain, could appropriately portray the character's from her book's on film! And that may not even be half of it; ...someone correct me if I am wrong but, all of characters in the books, & the films as well, are white! Why is that?! Specifically, why did she write it like that??
In many movies details, such as some specific demographic of (a) given character(s) that really doesn't have any bearing whatsoever on the storyline, get changed all the time. Sometimes the storyline does suffer. Such as with the movie "Spawn"! But, it's not like such details can't change and/or should never change at the merely possibility that such a scenario will play out like that. Inevitably, it makes sense to make such changes in many cases, specifically, so that the storyline, and ultimately the script, can be better molded to fit the desires and the empathy of the audience. The movie "Rising Sun" is a positive example of that! There are a large number of actor's, ...who were born in Britain, who are non-white, and/or who have non-white ancestry, such as David Harewood, Kwame Kwei-Armah, Lenny Bruce, Troy Titus-Adams, Ryan Thomas, etc. It's not like there isn't a stock of good actors, who are something other than white, to choose from; perhaps it is beside the point that there is a brilliant stock of those actors to choose from?!
The inheritors of the Tolkien estate did not require New Line Cinema to hire only British actors for the Lord of the Rings movie franchise. Those movies were excellent! Rowling did make, and get, such a requirement and the acting in the Harry Potter franchise, the first film in particularly, was subpar, at best! Ultimately, it was mediocre & overrated but, it was good enough for Warner Bros. to make money off of the franchise, given the popularity of the novels & that's obviously why they bowed to her apparently bigoted ideology...
I would NOT find it inappropriate at all to suggest that Rowling do a gut check on her sanity and her integrity!! I would also like to know how she feels about certain political & social policies & ideologies; for example, is she a member of the BNP (the British National Party)??
Any number of the actors in the Harry Potter franchise may very well have non-white, and obviously non-English, ancestry but they inevitably have so much white ancestry that, with having been born in Britain, perhaps Joanna just didn't know and therefore that area of the ancestry of those actor's went unnoticed... It is blisteringly apparent that she is a nationalist, in some context, and that she is a racist, in some context. So, it is odd that this concept of her being anti-bigotry has come up at all; she may not be a homophobe but, the more I hear and/or see anything about this non-issue controversy over Dumbledore's character the more searching I do and the more information I find and the more obvious it is that J. K. Rowling is a bigot!
